[UPDATE: This contest closed at noon on Wednesday, February 9th.]
As previously mentioned, Wild Tonic – along with Filter and Overhead Records – is presenting Robotanists‘ first residency in Los Angeles. Every Monday, the quartet will be taking the stage at Silverlake Lounge to play some incredible new tunes off of their forthcoming album, Plans In Progress (out 2/15). They’ve also got some stellar lineups planned for the entire month and it all kicks off tonight with fellow local bands, Death Kit, Twilight Sleep and Lanterns!
Also, we are kicking off contests and other goodies here on the site. First up: I’m very proud to premiere Robotanists’ track, “The Ghost You’re Haunting.” The track may be the closer on Plans In Progress but the energy stays uplifting until the very last second of the song. Keyboards and tight drumming underneath compelling vocals all come together as one giant upbeat melody for an eerie subject. Listen to it below now:
Stream: Robotanists – “The Ghost You’re Haunting”
Secondly, I’d like to remind you that Robotanists and Wild Tonic will be giving out some pretty great prizes each week of their residency. First prize? Win download cards for both the brand new album as well as their two previous EPs, “Closing Down The Woods” and “Shapes and Variations.” If you become one of our five winners, that means you get Plans In Progress before it’s even officially released on February 15th!
How do you enter? Easy; the first FIVE people to do the following get the download cards which will include the brand new album:
1) Leave a comment below by noon on Wednesday (February 9th) telling me what makes Robotanists stand out among the sea of bands here in LA.
2) Tweet this article. To do so, you can just hover your mouse over the “Share the love” box at the bottom of the post and click the “Tweet” button.
It’s that simple! However, you must do BOTH – leave a comment and tweet.
Important note: You must leave an e-mail address that we can reach you at below (it will not be publicly displayed).
You can check the lineups out for each week by going here.
Good luck and hope to see you at Silverlake Lounge tonight (and throughout February!)
what i dig about these guys is that they come recommended by peeps whose taste i value and respect
Here I am!
love these dudes! wish i was in town to see their LA residency, maybe next time or if they tour the east coast!
Robotanists work hella hard. They are homegrown and down to earth, and yet they are still rocking on a completely different plane. As aware as they are of how great they are as musicians and songwriters and artists in general, they are as personable as you can get, even if you don’t know them personally. Win must be their middle name, because it’s what they’re full of!
What makes them really stand out is that I’ve never heard them. And I’ve heard everything!
see you there lady!
lovely vocals and lyrics. beautifully melodic, but their sound isn’t soft.
I like em cos NO ONE writes songs like them and Sarah has the swooniest voice in LA!!
What I like about them is there beautiful such beautiful melodic.. where you would think it’s really soft but has that energy to it.
Thanks for all of the love guys!
