Imogen Heap: Headlock (Abstrack Dubstep remix)

One singer-songwriter I really used to dig back in the early 2000s was Imogen Heap as she has an incredible vocal range and such a creative process when it comes to putting her out-of-the box ideas down on paper (or should I say laptop). She’s known for being one half of the duo Frou Frou (mostly famous for contributing “Let Go” to the Garden State soundtrack) and has now released three solo LPs but I’ve really fallen off of the Imogen Heap wagon after her album, Speak For Yourself.

I’m not exactly sure why I stopped listening to her as she has done all the right things in regards to incorporating her fans online (she’s one of the bigger musicians who has gained something from Twitter). It may have had something to do with the fact that all people knew her for was “Hide and Seek” which TV show, The OC, made famous during a shooting scene. (There’s a hilarious parody, too.) Another thing that may have put me off to listening to her new album was the fact that it was the chorus of that gorgeous, unique song which helped spawned the debut hit for just-following-the-fad aritst, Jason DeRulo.

Perhaps I will listen to Ellipse some day; who knows – but here’s one thing I do know. I always had a feeling that Imogen Heap’s songs of moody electronica would sound really well if remixed with dubstep, and I was right. Just take a listen to Abstrack Dubstep’s remix of her song, “Headlock” below. The fact that I’m even sharing a dubstep remix with you should tell you how much I like it. (Other than remixes from Jakwob, Dubstep remixes tend to be too dark for me.) Also, check out their remix of Morgan Page’s “The Longest Road” – the song which I discovered Lissie on back a couple of years ago.
