As I previously mentioned, I’m really enjoying some of the tracks off of of Montreal‘s upcoming album, False Priest. “Coquet Coquette” gets me in a wonderful indie pop-rock frenzy and “Hydra Fancies” grooved me in all the right places with those funk undertones.
Another track I’ve been meaning to share is “Sex Karma.” I first heard this track when the band performed the song on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I love it because Solange Knowles also shares vocal duties with Kevin Barnes, but the performance itself on the talk show was overwhelmingly odd. The video has been taken down by NBC but for those of you who saw it, were you thinking of how much milk they were really drinking?
However, after I shook that bizarreness off, I took a listen to the track and it grew on me a little more every time. I’m very fond of those lyrics, “Because you look like a playground to me, playa.” It’s incredibly cheesy but for some odd reason it works for this duet. of Montreal is just one interesting crew and I allow them to take things to another level I would condemn most bands for attempting to reach. I still don’t like seeing Kevin Barnes in a thong but I’ll allow this corny lyric. At least it’s not “Your body is a wonderland.”
Grab the track below. Also, if you haven’t seen the crazy/awesome video for “Coquet Coquette” yet, it’s after the jump.
