The Sam Sparro remix of Saint Motel’s “Dear Dictator” was definitely one of the tunes I played when I was djing at Spaceland for the first time the other week. I tend to play a lot of local artists in the first place so when there’s a rad remix, I take any opportunity I can to share a reworking of this music with others.
As I previously mentioned, Los Angeles-based band Saint Motel is an unstoppable force as they direct all their own music videos (all of them went to school for film) and continue to use high technology for their live shows. They were even the first to release an EP on iTunes that had a video for each song. However, this new video which is for the Sam Sparro remix is lavish compared to the ones of “For Play.” Just as you think there’s about to be a throw down, a dance off happens instead. Lead vocalist, A/J Jackson, has really outdone himself by directing this one. Guest appearances include Sam Sparro, of course, Har Mar Superstar and So You Think You Can Dance winner, Mona Berstrom.
