Chromeo: Don’t Turn The Lights On

A few weeks ago, Chromeo premiered their new track, “Don’t Turn The Lights On,” on Stereogum and after one listen I knew it was solid. It definitely has hints of Hall and Oates throughout the track which runs a little over four and half minutes. That shouldn’t be surprising since the funk duo has worked with Daryl Hall before (even performing with him at this year’s Bonnaroo) and have always cited Hall and Oates as one of their major influences.

However, if you listen carefully, a Michael Jackson “Thriller” beat can be heard in the mix as well. It makes this track sound a lot darker than their previous single but it still works for what they’re going for. Take a listen to the new track and if you’re interested, you can also grab the Skream remix of “Night By Night” which was featured on the latest Wild Tonic mixtape.
