Fol Chen is hard to describe. Besides the fact that they’re a fun listen, they’re incredibly quirky. If you couldn’t tell by all their press photos (where all their heads are covered with some kind of abnormal object), they seem to like being unusual and it suits me just fine. As long as they keep pumping out fine tunes such as “The Believers” and “In Ruins,” on albums with peculiar titles, they can hide their identities all they want from the media. (Although it does somewhat defeat the purpose considering the fact that I’ve seen them live.)
They’ve recently released a video for their track, “In Ruins,” and in the clip directed by This American Life‘s Chris Wilcha, we follow them in a strange trek through some volcanic ash in Iceland. It’s an odd pairing of music and visuals, but it works because it’s Fol Chen. Check it out and grab their new track, “The Holograms,” after the jump!
