Sometimes I’m late in the game, but that’s okay because I’d rather be involved in a world that’s wealthy with great music and be behind rather than in one that’s desolate and only filled with one-word songs by Beiber and Ke$ha. When I say I’m late in the game this time, I’m talking about Philadelphia’s dreamwave sensation, Golden Ages. I really just stumbled upon this artist through a long link clicking process but the result is phenomenal.
Considering the fact that I don’t actually cover a lot of artists from Philly (and I’m not sure why that is either – it actually upsets me a little), Golden Ages (aka Francis Tseng) is a real gem to discover. As a producer who was familiar with the electronic music scene, Golden Ages is a project that is only over a year old but it has basically become exactly what Tseng wanted it to be – something that was more organic rather than plastic.
Tseng, under the moniker Golden Ages, currently has an LP out titled Tradition, but he’s getting ready to release another one. The best part about that? He’s already released a FREE 3-song EP in anticipation titled “Africa” which is appropriately titled since he does a cover of Toto’s hit song of the same name. Check his cover out along with the song, “It Doesn’t Mean Shit” below.
Je, typical bird for Africa ;). This is the parrot – macaw. They live in South America.
