I’m not going to lie. The last impression Amanda Blank made on me was not a very good one. I had gone to a cover a show of hers at The Avalon only to find out she headlined at 1 am, and then only performed a 25 minute set. Now, since I was covering the show it wasn’t like I lost money but I did feel sorry for those people who did pay to see the rapper-singer only to be let down by such a short set.
However, with that said and the only qualm I have with her, I am still a big fan of Blank. Her debut album, I Love You, definitely grew on me and it was interesting to hear her spit rhymes in a feminine scope (when compared to her grimy lyrics with Spank Rock). She even teamed up with Santigold and Lykke Li to offer some of that female power.
One of the most popular songs off of her album is “Might Like You Better,” and now an Amtrak remix has surfaced of it (via Winnie Cooper) which almost makes me like it better than the original. Take a listen to it below and decide for yourself!
